Imperial Office of Criminal Investigations

The Imperial Office of Criminal Investigations is a department of the Imperial Government responsible for investigating and combating criminal activities within the Galactic Empire. It is led by the Director of the Imperial Office of Criminal Investigations and its headquarters is in Imperial City.

The Office also maintains a database of known criminals (publicising them where necessary), apprehends known offenders, stems the flow of prohibited items and enforces Imperial Civil Law. Where possible, the Imperial Office of Criminal Investigations also works in conjunction with other intelligence and security agencies, as well as with local law enforcement groups and bounty hunters, to perform their duties.

Sub-Agencies
The Imperial Office of Criminal Investigations operates a number of sub-agencies dedicated to various specific tasks. These include:-

Sector Rangers – Considered the elite of the Office, a Sector Ranger is an individual authorised to transcend system legal boundaries within a sector in order to apprehend a criminal. It consists of some of the Empire’s best detectives and investigators, and generally is assigned to track down the most dangerous criminals and solve the most complex and important crimes.

Illegal Items and Substances Division – Responsible for apprehending smugglers and confiscating illegal items and substances.

Forensic Department - Responsible for conducting forensic tests and sensitive evidence recovery.

Economic Crimes Division - Responsible for conducting investigations into economic criminal activities. Works in conjuction with the Imperial Treasury.

Assault Team - Responsible for armed responses to criminal activities such as hostage rescues and high-risk arrests.
