The Judicial Department

Judicial Department crest The Judicial Department, also known as the Judicial Forces, are the enforcement arm of the Supreme Court, responsible for executing the Court's warrants, arrest orders, and other legal directives across the galaxy. Inherited from the Republic Judicial Forces that weren't folded into the Republic military, they continue under the New Order as a dedicated civil law enforcement organization. The Judicial Forces assist local planetary and sector police when petitioned by the Supreme Court or when a case falls under Imperial jurisdiction.

Under Emperor Draco Tanos, the Judicial Forces retained their role as the Supreme Court's operational arm while being strengthened to ensure swift and uniform enforcement of Imperial law. Officers are selected through merit-based recruitment, rigorous training, and loyalty screening, reflecting the New Order's core principles: merit above privilege, loyalty above ambition, and efficiency in service. They operate under the direct authority of the Supreme Court and the Chief Judicial Officer, maintaining independence from Senate and ministerial influence.

Role & Duties

Judiciary Consular-class Armed Cruiser The Judicial Forces specialize in executing Supreme Court orders, including high-profile warrants, fugitive apprehensions, asset seizures, and transport of prisoners to Imperial courts. They are frequently petitioned by the Court to assist local police forces in cases involving Imperial law violations, inter-sector disputes, or threats to judicial proceedings. When local authorities request assistance, or when the Supreme Court determines intervention is necessary, Judicial Forces officers deploy to enforce compliance, conduct investigations under Court authority, and ensure due process is upheld.

The Forces maintain a network of Judicial precincts on major worlds, Judicial cruisers for interstellar operations, and specialized units for high-risk enforcement (e.g., fugitive recovery, witness protection, and court security). They coordinate with local law enforcement but always report directly to the Supreme Court. Their uniforms are a distinctive Imperial-cut navy blue with silver accents, and their weapons include stun batons, blaster pistols, and riot shields, tools designed for restraint, precision, and the protection of judicial integrity.

Leadership & Organization

The Judicial Forces are led by the Provost Marshal, appointed by Emperor Draco Tanos and confirmed by the Ministry of Justice. The Provost Marshal oversees the entire organization, sets enforcement policy, and reports directly to the Supreme Court. Regional Judicial marshals command local forces, while sector-level commanders handle day-to-day operations and Court-directed missions.
