Imperial CourtroomThe Supreme Court is the highest judicial authority in the Galactic Empire, continuing the same institution that existed under the Galactic Republic. Housed in the Galactic Courts of Justice Building on Coruscant, the Court serves as the final arbiter of Imperial law and the ultimate interpreter of the Empire's legal framework. It ensures that all lower courts, planetary courts, and Imperial administrations apply the law consistently and in accordance with the principles of the New Order: merit, loyalty, efficiency, and absolute allegiance to the Throne.

Under Emperor Draco Tanos, the Court retained its full autonomy and its role as the Empire's highest appellate authority. It has original jurisdiction over cases involving high treason, constitutional challenges to Imperial decrees, disputes between major sectors or ministries, and appeals from the highest regional courts. The Court's decisions are binding across the galaxy and can only be overturned by direct Imperial decree.

Structure & Composition

The Supreme Court consists of a Chief Justice and eight Associate Justices, all appointed by Emperor Draco Tanos and confirmed by the Imperial Ruling Council. Justices serve for life or until removed by the Emperor for cause. Selection is based on proven legal expertise, loyalty to the New Order, and a record of impartial, merit-based judgment. The Chief Justice presides over sessions and has the tie-breaking vote in divided cases.

The Court is divided into panels for efficiency, with three-Justice panels handling routine appeals and the full Court convening for cases of galactic significance. Proceedings are conducted in the Supreme Court Chamber within the Galactic Courts of Justice Building, a solemn hall designed to reflect the gravity of Imperial justice. All rulings are published and archived, serving as precedent for lower courts and reinforcing the Empire's commitment to uniform, predictable law.

Role in the New Order

The Supreme Court upholds the rule of law as defined by Emperor Draco Tanos and the New Order. It protects the Empire from internal legal chaos, resolves disputes between planetary governments and Imperial authorities, and ensures that no official, civilian or military, is above the law. The Court does not legislate; it interprets and applies Imperial decrees and statutes with precision and impartiality.

In cases of constitutional importance, the Court may issue advisory opinions at the Emperor's request. Its independence from the Senate and ministries safeguards against political interference, while its direct accountability to the Throne ensures alignment with the Empire's vision of order and unity. Through the Supreme Court, the New Order balances centralized authority with the fair and consistent administration of justice across the galaxy.
