Description
Named in honor of Admiral Dao, who gave his life during the liberation of Ryloth, the Dao-class provides the Imperial Navy with an economical means of deploying a complete starfighter wing. Six squadrons launch through rapid-deployment chutes and receive maintenance in the central hangar, while six shuttles or landing craft support personnel transfer, resupply, and liaison duties. The carrier’s light defensive battery and limited protection require it to remain behind the main battle line under escort. Dao-class vessels accompany important convoys, reinforce remote systems, and conduct short hyperspace repositioning maneuvers to release fighter squadrons from several directions.
