The TIE/sa is a dedicated ordnance-delivery platform serving alongside fighter and interceptor units. Its paired-hull configuration provides internal space for missiles, torpedoes, bombs, mines, and mission-specific payloads.

The modified secondary pod carries two seated passengers, personal baggage, atmosphere, and a boarding step. Fleet officers use the TIE/sh for rapid transfers where a larger shuttle is unnecessary.
