Flight Branch

line

Imperial NavyThe Flight Branch is responsible for overseeing all flight operations of combat starships and the Empire's vast starfighter forces through the Flight Corps. It manages pilots, support personnel, and the tactical deployment of starfighters in naval engagements.

Role and Responsibilities

The Flight Branch handles the planning and execution of starfighter operations, including escort duties, space superiority missions, and ground support. It works closely with the Line Branch to ensure capital ships are properly screened and supported by fighter screens. Junior officers in this branch use the "Flight" prefix in their ranks.

Organization

The branch includes the Flight Division and several smaller support divisions. It oversees the Navy's Flight Corps, which operates the majority of the Empire's starfighters. The TIE seriies is the mainstay of the branch. Most models lack hyperdrives and many are modified for remote/drone control from their carriers, allowing for coordinated swarms controlled by pilots aboard larger vessels.

Status

The Flight Branch is critical to the Imperial Navy's ability to project power. Its starfighter forces provide the flexible, high-volume firepower needed to overwhelm enemy defenses and support larger fleet operations.
