Security Branch

The Security Branch is responsible for shipboard security, military police duties, and ground support operations for the Imperial Navy. It provides the dedicated troops needed to protect naval vessels, installations, and operations.

Role and Responsibilities

This branch is primarily composed of Imperial Navy Troopers (also known as Star Destroyer troopers or Naval Troopers). They serve as soldiers and security guards on Imperial warships and installations. Their duties include acting as guards, military police, hangar control traffic controllers, sensor array operators, and performing various other security and support tasks. They frequently support stormtroopers during boarding actions, often conducting mop-up operations after initial engagements.

Organization and Equipment

Imperial Navy Troopers operate as part of Imperial Fleet Regiments. They wear distinctive black uniforms and swooping black protective helmets. Primary weapons include the DH-17 blaster pistol or E-11 blaster rifle, supplemented by thermal detonators. They are distinct from the Imperial Army and Stormtrooper Corps, created specifically for Navy ship and installation security.

Status

The Security Branch provides the Imperial Navy with a dedicated corps of troops separate from the Army and Stormtrooper Corps. In remote regions, such as the Outer Rim Territories, they gain significant combat experience and become credible threats to enemy forces.
