The Interrogation Group

Interrogation is the branch of the Analysis Bureau responsible for the systematic questioning of individuals who hold information of value to Imperial Intelligence. Its work focuses on the controlled extraction of accurate and usable intelligence from captured personnel and other sources.

Approach

Unlike the more aggressive methods sometimes associated with other Imperial security organizations, Interrogation emphasizes patience, preparation, and psychological control. The branch prioritizes long-term results over immediate compliance. Subjects are studied carefully, and questioning is structured to produce reliable information rather than statements made under extreme duress that may later prove false or incomplete.

In appropriate cases, Interrogation seeks not only to obtain information but to reshape the subject’s loyalties. Successfully turned individuals may later be returned to their original environments as controlled sources or double agents, providing Imperial Intelligence with ongoing access that a single interrogation session could never achieve.

Method

Interrogation personnel are trained in a range of techniques that combine psychological pressure, controlled environments, and, when necessary, carefully regulated physical methods. The goal is always the production of accurate intelligence that can be verified and acted upon by the rest of Imperial Intelligence.

The branch works closely with the other components of the Analysis Bureau when technical or documentary evidence is required to support or contradict a subject’s statements. It also coordinates with the Bureau of Operations when a subject’s knowledge is relevant to ongoing field activities.

Place within Analysis

Interrogation forms one of the core capabilities of the Analysis Bureau. By converting captured individuals into sources of usable information, the branch ensures that the Empire gains the maximum possible value from those who fall into its hands. Its results feed directly into the broader analytical work of the Bureau and, through it, into the strategic assessments prepared by the Intelligence Bureau.

Through disciplined and methodical practice, Interrogation provides Imperial Intelligence with a reliable means of extracting the knowledge held by its adversaries.
