Seal of Imperial IntelligenceInternal Security, known within Imperial Intelligence as IntSec, is the branch of the Internal Organization Bureau responsible for the physical protection of Intelligence personnel, material, and facilities.

Mission

IntSec ensures that the buildings, archives, communications centers, and other installations of Imperial Intelligence remain secure against unauthorized access, sabotage, and direct attack. It is also responsible for the personal security of Intelligence personnel while they are within those facilities or under formal IntSec protection.

IntSec is the only component of Imperial Intelligence that routinely carries weapons in open view inside Intelligence installations. Its officers form the visible security presence at entrances, within sensitive areas, and at key points throughout major facilities. In addition, the branch deploys plainclothes personnel in the surrounding areas to identify and intercept potential threats before they reach the perimeter.

Character of the Work

The work of IntSec is largely preventive. Successful security is measured by the absence of incidents rather than by dramatic interventions. Officers are trained to recognize suspicious behavior, control access according to strict protocols, and respond rapidly when a breach is attempted or an alarm is raised.

Although the role is sometimes regarded as less glamorous than the field work of the other bureaus, IntSec personnel understand that a single successful penetration of a major Intelligence facility can compromise operations across wide regions of the Empire. The branch therefore maintains high professional standards and exercises its authority without hesitation when the security of the service is at stake.

Place within IntOrg

IntSec handles the physical dimension of internal security, while Internal Counterintelligence (IntCon) addresses the problem of hostile agents and compromised personnel. The two branches coordinate closely. A physical intrusion may be the outward sign of a deeper intelligence penetration, and an internal investigation by IntCon may require heightened physical security measures from IntSec.

Together the two branches provide Imperial Intelligence with comprehensive protection of its own people, information, and infrastructure, allowing the rest of the organization to operate with confidence in the integrity of its base.
