Motivation is SAG's standards, discipline, and member-support branch. It deals with members who fail to meet the organization's tenets or obligations, determines why they have fallen short, and works to return them to constructive participation.

Services

  • Peer and adult mentoring for new or struggling members.
  • Goal setting, study habits, conflict resolution, and leadership development.
  • Practical assistance with transport, equipment, accessibility, and program attendance.
  • Restorative responses to ordinary misconduct within SAG.
  • Referral to qualified educational, medical, welfare, or protective services when a matter exceeds the branch's competence.

Approach

Motivation begins with the circumstances of the individual, not an assumption of disloyalty. Mentors may correct conduct and reinforce civic obligations, but they are not interrogators, clinicians, or security officers. Confidentiality is respected subject to safety and reporting duties.

Discipline

Serious misconduct is handled through published SAG procedures with notice, an opportunity to respond, and review beyond the local chapter. Removal from an activity or membership may be necessary, but humiliation, coercive indoctrination, and collective punishment are inconsistent with the branch's purpose.

Successful Reintegration

The branch succeeds when a member regains direction, completes obligations, and returns to constructive participation. Where SAG is not the right environment, staff assist the family in finding a more suitable path.
